How to get the animation to disappear for a while?

I need to create an animation of a character changing to another character - and in the middle of the animation I need to make the animation invisible. How to do it?

How to hide an animation step

The easiest way is to create an empty frame / step of animation (How? In the picture, where are the other steps of the animation, select a small blank area). Then put this empty frame to your animation as usual. Even for this step you can set the required duration.
